Adult Acne Treatment: Getting Clear Skin

by Linda Gladhill

Acne begins to appear in young people around the ages of 12 or 13. It usually subsides in our late teens and early twenties. However, some people have acne throughout their adult lives.

Adult acne is a very common occurrence that is usually linked to hormonal fluctuations or certain prescription medicine. Fortunately, adult acne solutions do not vary too much from regular acne solutions, although older skin will require gentler skin care products than does teenage skin.

Adult Acne Skin Care

A regular cleansing routine should be the basis of any anti-acne regimen. It consists mainly of three steps: cleansing, exfoliating and toning, and moisturizing. However, the type of product you should use on your skin will greatly depend on the type of skin you have.

If you have oily skin you should use a soapy cleanser that contains salicylic acid. If your skin is dry or sensitive skin, then it is best that you try a cream cleanser or a non-comedogenic oil. For people with combination skin soapy cleansers especially formulated for this type of skin are best.

By purchasing a good cleanser you can avoid toning, but don't forget that no matter what skin type you have you should never stop exfoliating on a regularly basis. Oily skin is a resilient skin type capable of resisting the use of a mechanical exfoliant such as a facial scrub, salt, or sugar while dry and sensitive skin types should rely on natural exfoliants such as milk or grapefruit juice mixed with oatmeal.

Moisturizing is another essential step that all skin types should follow. With oily skin, choose a water based or oil-free moisturizer. If you have dry skin, use a fragrance free moisturizer and reapply as needed.

Most acne sufferers will see a great improvement if they follow the above steps. However, if you're suffering from stubborn acne you might need a little extra help. This is where specialized acne treatments come in.

Natural acne products are a great choice when treating sensitive or dry skin. They contain less chemicals than do traditional skin care products. In fact, you can even choose to make your own from scratch.

When you choose your acne products, make sure that you read the labels carefully before purchasing. If you're trying to treat oily skin, then you should look for products that contain ingredients such as retinoic acid, salicylic acid and zinc.

Both salicylic acid and retinoic acid help control the production of sebum and regulate the production of excess sebum. Zinc, on the other hand, is helpful in promoting the healing process.

You can modify your diet (in addition to using topical forms of these products) to get the most out of these ingredients. You can obtain Vitamin A by consuming plenty of carrots, spinach, and beef liver. Zinc can be acquired through foods such as from meats, crabmeat, whole grain cereals, and peanuts.

It's important that no matter what diet you follow, that you eat a variety of foods and minimize your intake of greasy and processed foods.

The steps you take won't always help you with certain acne conditions, however, BIOSKINFORTE can help with adult acne treatment. This natural acne product is made with Helix Aspersa Muller extract and other natural ingredients that are aimed to help combat the root causes of acne. With the help of certain natural products, such as BIOSKINFORTE you can finally get rid of acne safely and effectively.
